blues625oct22009

Hockey. The Greatest Game on Ice (well, it’s either this or curling and skating). We here at The Rookies, being 72% comprised of bloggers from states with actual winters, have decided to give you, our loyal public, a (hopefully) weekly recap of some of the notable NHL games from the past week, seeing as A: we couldn’t think of anything better to do and B: it’s not like any of you who have DirecTV can actually watch any of the games on VS. Enjoy. Read the rest of this entry →

Oy

This story by SI’s Allan Muir pretty much encapsulates everything that’s messed up about the NHL today.

You have the NHL broadcasting well over half of its national games on a network that’s apparently not receiving high enough ratings to earn the money they’re receiving from the nation’s largest satellite TV provider. You have that network demanding even more money from said provider, even though they’re not in a position to do so.  And don’t forget this is a league that needs as much national exposure as possible. The developing insanity that is All-Star Games

Why, hello there.  You may recognize me from here or here but if you don’t, I can hardly blame you. Well, round these parts I am known by my Deadspin ID as 310ToJoba. It appears I may have gotten confused and wandered into the wrong corner of the Internet, but while I’m here I figured I would stay for a little while and Rockabye was nice enough to let me do so. Anyway, a bit about me: I am 20 years old, an undergrad at a school that would probably be ashamed of most of my antics, and I am desperately craving attention, looking for love in all the wrong places,  in possession of an undying love for all sports but specifically baseball. I promise I don’t smell . Well now, introductions aside, let’s cut to the chase.
