Last Call: Do You Remember When…

Misty, pre-cocaine memories.

Misty, pre-cocaine memories.

…Lindsay Lohan was hot?

…Bill Simmons was one of the hipper sportswriters in the country?

…Michael Vick was supposed to change football?

…Limp Bizkit recorded music?

…we posted content almost daily here?

…the surest way to make a myth and shoot for stardom in hip-hop was not getting shot on Degrassi but getting shot in real life?

…Jack Kevorkian was a big deal?

CSI was a new, fresh, cutting-edge idea?

…being on the Internet meant hearing this?

…pay phones were hunted not for their rarity but their utility?

…some suit decided that a little imagined nostalgia was a good way to sell music?

Personally, I’d rather have jubilant, clever, possibly real memories. That’s why we bring you links to blog postings from the Interwebnets that you will probably remember forever. Maybe. (Or not.)

Breaking news: Brock Lesnar out of UFC 106 due to illness…

I saw that…Sucks. I was looking forward to that matchup, and the one after that where the winner gets to pick apart Cain Velasquez.

Someone else is here! And, an MMA fan! (I read your 104 preview and liked it…I’ll be reading more of your stuff from now on)

Brock is basically Velasquez, only bigger, stronger, and more powerful. Those pillow punches Cain has would just make Brock angrier.

I wonder where Big Nog stands on the list of challengers.

(In terms of when he gets to challenge (and probably get demolished) for the title. Last I read he was next, but they keep changing things around.)

My friend had it on his computer during out night class…I’m pissed.

In for a few before football and Blogkakke starts.

Chhichi, will 106 be worth seeing if there’s no Lesner fight?

I like several of the undercard bouts for 106, though who knows if they make it to the PPV (haven’t yet heard whether Spike will be showing undercard bouts). Parisyan/Hazelett should be good, as should Cane/Little Nog. I’m easy to please, though. 105 is weak but it’s not a PPV.

@MRD – they’re supposedly increasing to three events per month next year, without bringing in lower weight classes I don’t know how they could do that when they are having trouble filling less-frequent events now.

oy…. and 105 doesn’t look that interesting either.

For the past month or so, most of the big MMA sites have been discussing the fact that the UFC doesn’t have enough fighters/fights to maintain it’s current pace of holding events.

This may force them to merge the WEC brand/with the UFC brand in order to fill the cards.

They should let Rampage fight that guy he keeps calling “Titties” on TUF. That fellow looks like he’d like to give Rampage a beating.

That’s because it’s in London (meaning free on spike).

Lesnar out due to injury, yeesh. The guy might need to just suck it up. Otherwise, seems the ESPN scandalists are fired.

Fuck, I can’t type. I meant Lesnar out with illness.

Per Carwin’s twitter, apparently they’re going to fight at UFC 108 Jan 2. Not sure if Silva is for sure fighting Belfort that night due to Silva’s elbow surgery/management’s complaints about fighting Belfort…

Yeah, I think Carwin is pretty much a traditional Brit fighter. He’ll fight anytime anywhere. But hopefully Lesnar makes the Jan 2 event. In wrestling, he’s been notorious for no-showing events that he deems as no-win.

I think Dana White is a bit smarter than that, and Lesnar will have to stick with the next date. We know White isn’t too scared of yanking the title.

@RATL: Westbrook will not return tonight. Shady’s gonna put on a show!

I hope so. My Westbrook for Peyton trade looks better and better. I also have a better chance in my one league. I’m playing Westbrook and I have Celek and Clinton Portis’ corpse. I can’t physically watch the Redskins offense so i was watching raw for a while.

      Lets gooooooooooooo Shady.

Oh and can anyone explain why Antrel Rolle’s pass last night didn’t show up in ANY box scores? He took a snap and threw a pass (to Fitz). How can that not count?

Ben Patrick got called for holding so the play didn’t count.
