Kevin Youkilis’ Night: Get Hit, Lose Lid, Tweet About It
Because the above video has a pizza roll’s chance in Charles Barkley’s vicinity of being on YouTube later this morning, the image below should tell you why choosy bloggers choose GIF:
Yeah, Kevin Youkilis sort of lost his mind tonight. But it was smart, maybe, as one conspiracy theorist noted: The Tigers’ starter, Rick Porcello, had worked a clean first inning before dinging The Greek God of Unfortunate Goatees in the second, touching off a brawl that got both the flipper and flippee tossed, and perhaps keying the Red Sox to a 7-5 victory.
Throwing a helmet at the pitcher is dumb, though, might (should?) get Youkilis a suspension, too. A little post-game tweeting probably won’t help matters:
I have no idea what MLB protocol is for a player who gets hit, charges the mound, throws a helmet at a backpedaling pitcher, and then fires miffed missives into the Internet ether asking about whether the beanball was intentional, but I believe Roger Goodell has suspended Youkilis without pay until 2017.
I should note that Youkilis’ account doesn’t appear on this independently verified list of athletes on Twitter, but also that it could very well be him; if it’s not, my apologies. Also, the link to this picture is for Joba.

I love the few seconds of Youkilis charging the mound. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! All told, a funny incident, considering Youkilis and Porcello were the only ones fighting.
Believe it or not someone brought up the possibility of youk intentionally taking out porcello on 4chan, shortly before francona was ejected.
